GAUNTLET: "The Comeback" 3

The comeback? I thought you needed to achieve something before you embark on an successful return and comeback album? Anyhow, it's appearently time to throw the Gauntlet and head for the Spanish border. This is primitive and groovy metal in the mid-tempo formula and you're already fed up with the music as track two (A Sheep In Wolf's Clothing) blast through my loudspeakers.
Don't get me wrong, they are all decent musicians and there's nothing particular wrong with their production either. But in all honesty, their song material is pretty much as exciting as watching wet paint dry. There are merely bit and pieces of something that could have been and I'm afraid they need to work on their 'hook and refrain' skill. Don't bore us - get to the chorus (geez, you can blame Roxette for the latter and horrible line). www.gauntletmetal.com

Yo, sinceramente, le escribiría al correo del tal "Wally" pidiéndole disculpas por lo primitivos y poco sofisticados que somos. Disculpas, también, porque un puñado de "mediterraneos" se haya atrevido con una música anglosajona. Ya que deberíamos dejar el liderato del metal/rock a todos esos "grupos míticos" que va pariendo en los últimos años (unos cuantos, ya...) la Gran Bretaña.
A lo mejor seríamos más comprendidos por la mentalidad paleta americana que acostumbra a tener esos grupos tan "primitivos" que nos influencian, tales como Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, etc.
A este gurú de la música le ponen los cambios de tempo, interludios y........Phil Collins!! (Sí, sí, echad un vistazo a otras de sus críticas). Nosotros no estamos a la altura de ese gran músico, ni a la de sofisticados grupos escandinavos con cantante/grulla femenina....nosotros sólo somos una banda de rock....but we like it.

Spanish heavy/power metal/hard rock outfit Gauntlet have been around since about 1998 but somehow haven’t risen the metal ranks all that far and have remained mainly in the underground. Sadly, after hearing this self-released EP (and some other random tracks floating around online) I’m not sure they’ll get that far. It’s not even just that this is generic (though it is)—it’s boring. Out of three songs, only one (“Die Away”) is memorable. Sort of. It sounds like all the guys in Gauntlet are good enough musicians (singer Ivo Galenov in particular is truly awesome) but their song writing is missing something—whether it’s originality, a specific direction or what, I don’t know, but it just sounds really uninspired. Hopefully these guys will improve at some point because they seem really driven to keep churning out music.

No ha dicho simplemente que no le gusta... ha empeleado metáforas de inglés graciosillo... que se creen todos que tienen el humor de los Monty Phyton y no... más bien el de Benny Hill... humor para paletos...
